Cha Cha Cha :: Checkered Skirt & Gingham Street Styles 2015.

Friday, January 23, 2015 Simone - Your Style Architect 5 Comments

Happy Friday,

Slowly picking up pace on my blog posts again whilst I sort out my personal issues. Sorry for the slowdown over the last 2 weeks. Should be back on track very soon with exciting collaborations and giveaways coming your way soon.

Meanwhile, as mentioned in my previous post on my " 10 MUST HAVES FOR SPRING WARDROBE 2015", Gingham is heavy trending in terms of pattern for this year. So some of you may be wondering what is the difference then between Gingham prints,  Checks, Plaid & Tartan?

Gingham pattern are usually smaller check prints of equal width ( square) and often alternating with white. Many often associate this kind of print with aprons, kitchen cloths and young girls' outfits. But 2015 will see this print in clothing styles that would take it up a notch to a sexy level.

Plaid ( as its known in the USA & Canada) OR Tartan, is often associated with Scottish kilts or blanket patterns. Consisting of varying criss crossing of horizontal and vertical bands where the varying stripes meet, this gives the appearance of new colours blended from the original ones.

Checks tend to be larger square patterns of equal width, similar to Gingham, and often alternating with white or black though not always.

So now that we have cleared up the confusion of these varying checkered patterns, here's my style inspiration for you this week. As I do not own anything in Gingham JUST YET ( and hopefully I will look at getting some), therefore I decided to pull out my checkered peplum skirt - being the next closest pattern to Gingham and trend it since the weather has warmed up a little.

Nice to throw on a floppy hat and statement jewelry to top off the whole look!

So how at best can you Style Gingham pattern for 2015? Here are some Street Styles over Fashion Week SS 2015 trending Gingham prints, for you to draw your inspirations from.

10 Must Haves for 2015 Spring Wardrobe

Saturday, January 17, 2015 Simone - Your Style Architect 7 Comments

Hi Everyone,

As we move into the new year, many of you would probably start thinking about what fashion items you should be trending for 2015. With the many post Christmas and New Year Sales going on ( and here in Asia - pre Chinese New Year Sales), here's my top 10 items I have identified that will be staples for most of 2015 and "must-haves", to help ease your shopping woes.

1) Military / Khaki Jacket

Marc Jacobs // Victoria Beckham
As seen on the runway, some designers such as Marc Jacobs, Victoria Beckham, Chanel & Marissa Webb have drawn their inspiration from the Safari. A versatile style of jacket and ideally for Spring when the weather warms up a little but still cool enough where you still need an outerwear, here are my options which you could easily purchase online.

ASOS // Maison Scotch Knit Sleeve Jacket( Polyvore)

2) Toga/ One Shoulder Dress
In 2014, we saw Off Shoulder dresses trending the runway, but for 2015, a twist on this with the one shoulder or toga dress/ top is the way to go. An ideal date night outfit!

Clockwise from top left : Choies.com // Choies.com // Michael Kors // Forever 21
3) Culottes
The twist on trending this style of shorts for 2015 is how you pair it this time for work -  with blazers, tailored button down shirts and definitely with heels to give it a polished touch instead of flip flops.

Hermes // Chanel // Edun
Check these styles out online to start trending Culottes.

Adam Lippes Baggy Denim Culottes
ASOS
4) Gingham
While Plaid and checks are still trending for Spring, particularly so would be the Gingham print. For 2015, Gingham takes on a sexy swing on the fashion runway. No longer reserve for young girls' outfits or kitchen linens, sexy up with Gingham prints from these great online buys. Try  combining this trend with the apron/ skirt layering trend for Spring 2015.

Net A Porter // New Look // Marissa Webb
Yesstyle.com // Sportmax // WAREHOUSE
5) Kimono Style
For outerwear in Spring 2015, go for longer silhouettes tied at the waist with a belt aka Obi belt. The kimono, martial arts inspired dressing is another hot favourite on the runway.

Alexander Wang // Philip Lim // Chadwick Bell

6) Boho / Hippie Maxi Dress
A strong emphasis on 1970s for Spring 2015, its time for flower power to rise again! Pull out those vintage Boho dresses or shop online now for a classic look that will take you places.

Valentino // Pucci // Etro // Roberto Cavalli
Here are some of my favourites on Getting The Look For Less :
ASOS // Nordstrom - Women's Gypsy
Choies,com // Matchesfashion.com
7) Tailored Shirtdress
I personally believe this is always a year on year classic item to own. But instead of grabbing your boyfriend's or husband's oversize shirt to make it your own, go for one that is tailored and structured with a feminine twist. Whilst at it try combining it with other trends e.g Gingham/ Denim/ Red or Yellow or pair it with an oversize belt turning it into a Kimono style outfit which are all trending in 2015.

8) Lace Dress
Designers were making laces of varied colours for 2015, but ethereal white definitely made it's mark for Spring 2015.

Valentino
Diane Von Fursternberg // Chloe
Why not try out these looks to trend the romantic lace style for 2015?

ASOS // NEXT // TOPSHOP
9) Jumpsuits
Certainly this style of outfit doesn't come as a surprise seeing it was trending for Fall / Winter 2014. The twist on Jumpsuits for 2015 is all about the necklines, cut of the suit, statement accessory pairing - oversize belts, scarves and jewelry which all adds that hint of sophistication to what would be an industrial world inspired look.

Marios Shwab // Naeem Khan // Giuletta
Pamella Roland // Tagliapetra // Trace Reese
These online finds are definitely worth considering in getting this look for less.

Choies.com // Choies.com // NEXT
10) Gladiator Sandals

Now I bet most of you would already have this item stashed in your closet - so bring them out cos Gladiator Sandals is definitely worth trending again for Spring 2015. Paris Fashion Week for SS 2015 saw more Gladiator Sandals pairing than any other shoe type.

To try not blowing your budget this Spring 2015, go for combine trends when purchasing your new staples. Mix and match them to get the most mileage of your items. For example, One Shoulder Jumpsuit or White Lace Toga Dress, Shirtdress in Gingham, Boho Maxi dress with perhaps oversize belt Kimono style etc.. You get the drift....

You can shop these gorgeous looks now and here.

Till then, do drop me a comment below on which is your favourite item you would like to add to your closet for Spring 2015?

Simone xoxo

Furry Feeling :: Fur Vest and Leather Pants

Saturday, January 10, 2015 Simone - Your Style Architect 3 Comments

Happy weekend everyone.

Whilst most of us is now back to work and school ( well at least here in Hong Kong), I wanted to share this look with you as it was recently taken over the festive period ( as you can see the Christmas tree in the background). But it's just been so quick and in the blink of an eye the festive holiday season is now over.... so let's try and keep it going for just that wee lil bit more ok?

If you have been following me, this fur vest was a great steal I bought recently from online store CHOIES and my very first post of this vest was pairing it in Fall with a short sleeve tee under it ( check it out here) . This time, I wore the vest over the holiday season again and since the weather got much cooler by then, decided to team it with  leather pants and a turtleneck. Totally added that touch of glamour to a simple fur vest.

Certainly a versatile look to play with, the stud heels and glitter clutch was ideal for this dinner event I was going for, but one can easily rock chic this up with boots and a different bag. You could even trend a statement necklace with the turtleneck. I kept my accessories simple and to a minimal this time.

Many of you would remember this glitter clutch trending in 2013 but I am all about recycling my wardrobe and so this clutch is back out this winter as much as the pair of leather pants.

Hope you like this look and if you haven't yet invested in a fur vest yet, you should ! Have fun trending this look and do watch this space for more exciting giveaways coming your way soon to kick off 2015 with!

New Tuxedo Style :: Tailored Shirt & Full Midi Skirt

Saturday, January 03, 2015 Simone - Your Style Architect 9 Comments

Happy New Year everyone!

As much as there were happy and pleasant memories for 2014, but I  am seriously glad that 2014 is over and looking forward to 2015 with the hope of a new start to life. Too many tragic happenings in the world in 2014 where many innocent lives were lost, and personally I have had to deal with a bunch of negative and horrible people who believe that animal life is cheap compared to their material things. Certainly a behaviour I can never condone and I am certainly writing them off in my life. Not worth considering to bury the hatchet as a hypocrite I am not, therefore life goes on.

So to ring in the new year heading out for lunch, a feminine and fun twist to a Tuxedo Style outfit was my choice. Monochrome black and white is a classic style and this look had a strong " Marilyn Monroe meets Audrey Hepburn" vibe to it.

Love this 1950s style structured neoprene midi skirt ( I had mentioned it in my last Youtube Video " Mini Zara Haul and Accessory Pairings for Winter " - so go check it out) as it's such an ideal travel item to take along ( non-crease) and perfect for dressing up or down with.Threw on a leather biker jacket for cooler weather outside.

Love pairing this skirt with a tailored dress shirt - simple yet elegant. And you can even glam it up further with a statement necklace or a bustier top over the shirt for a different look and feel.

Had fun twirling my skirt in between serious shots! The Zara red mid heel court shoes always adds that punch of colour to a basic black and white outfit.

The necklaces were both Xmas gifts. The shorter necklace was from my bestie and the Karma Necklace was from my mom-in-law. Taking this outfit up a notch is my pave bracelet and glitter quilted bag which adds the much needed bling to this classic do. Love it!

Here's wishing all of you success in achieving your New Year Resolutions and may 2015 bring you a year of true friendships to last a lifetime, happiness, success, good health and happy surprises!
